SEASONALITY

Hi Friends,

A long helloooooo to everyone, as i am writing this BLOG, after a long long time.

Does Seasonality exist everywhere, Is my question to all my readers.?????

SUMMER,WINTER, AUTUMN AND RAIN.

For a Business Men, seasonality affect his business Directly.
For professional's also, it does affect.

Is it the Same, for people in JOB's.

Professional's like CA, TAX Consultant's get busy in MARCH, FY Closing. Again they get busy in September Deadline for Audited Firm's return filing.

Doctor's are busy Round the Year. Morning, evening, night. Also they have emergencies to attend.

What about a SELF MANAGED, MEDIUM SCALE BUSINESS.
When a business makes Good Sales in its high season time( Diwali, Marriages, other festivals),
in return getting good profit.
Later it is followed by Slag Period, getting very low Sales Figure's,
in return Low Profits.
But his FIXED EXPENSES are the same.

Now, you may think, one has made Good profit, in High Season period, so that amount could balance, the Slag/Low Sales Period.

This again depends upon your Set-up. The lager the Setup u have( MANPOWER, CAPITAL INVESTMENT, CONNECTIVITY), the more u get benefits of High Season. But if u have a medium setup, u suffer both the times.

In High Season- U cannot reach all your customers, due to limited resources.(Opportunity Cost)
In low Season- Ur customers are not interested in giving orders.

In this Cut Throat Competitive Market, how a medium scale, Conventional Business could survive, is my question to all.

The above mentioned statement is a small sharing, of my understanding of Business, in the last 8 years.

People from various streams have given many guidance, pathways etc, and there are many videos, testimonials etc, on FB, You Tube, etc.

But here we are Talking about Ground realities, not just Story Telling, giving examples of Successful people, in past Situation( THINGS AND CONDITIONS HAVE CHANGED A LOT).

At the End, thanks for going through my Blog( by sparing your time).

Your Friend

IT ALL STARTS FROM SMALL THINGS

Hello Friends,
I am not writing it today because, I want to be in lime light, but I am doing so,
To be respectful in my own eyes.
It may seem very Filmy (inspired from Rang de basanti, Singham etc.)
THERE ARE 3 WAYS OF LIVING LIFE.
  1. TOLERATE WHATEVER WRONG IS HAPPENING AROUND.
  2. NEGLECT, TRY TO REFRAIN FROM SUCH SITUATIONS.
  3. BEST WAY- FIGHT AND TRY TO MAKE THINGS UPRIGHT.
All of us know about Shri Anna Hazare and the current scenario, I would just add a small statement to put my stake- “US BUDDHE KO KYA PADI HAI ANSHAN KARNE KI, JO ALREADY KABAR MEIN LATKA HUA HAI. FOR WHOME IS HE DOING IT, NOT FOR HIMSELF BUT FOR YOU AND ME”

When he can fight at such an old age, why can’t we.
Now - Why and How to fight.
Answer to- WHY- To get what we deserve, we owe, and what we are actually not getting, whether it may be GOOD EDUCATION AT LOW COST, HEALTH, FOODING, CLOTHING, SHELTER, AMUSEMENT, and SECURITY.
I think I deserve and wish to have all these things, so I have started fighting.

Answer to- HOW- I am not asking you to leave your day to day work and sit with Anna, or join any NGO etc.
Just start with small thing, in and around you, which you feel like- is wrong and need to be changed.
If only very, very few of us start doing so, others will get inspired, and it would create a chain reaction.
This CHAIN REACTION IS A MUST, because, One single man or women can't bring revolution, yes people in past have done it, but today It requires a Joint effort.
YES but who, would take an Initiative, I will-

TODAY A TRAFFIC POLICE MAN , STOPPED ME AT THE SIGNAL.
ASKED ME FOR THE DRIVING LICENSE- I HANDED OVER TO HIM MY ORIGINAL DL.
ASKED FOR REGISTRATION PAPERS- I HANDED OVER TO HIM THE SAME.
ASKED FOR INSURANCE PAPERS- I HANDED OVER TO HIM THE SAME.
SAYS INSURANCE IS LAPSED, THEN CORRECTS HIMSELF, ITS NOT.
Finally says, you are not wearing a Helmet and Talking over phone while driving- Fine Rs 1200.
I replied, I was not talking over phone, I was just listening FM,  via earphone which is not crime.
Helmet is not compulsory in this area; I have been here many Times. (BHILAI).
Head Traffic Police men- Pay Rs 200 and Leave, I asked what for, I am not wrong anywhere, but I had to rush to my work, so I had to look for an instant solution.
I could easily pay him Rs 100, under table and leave, but I paid him Rs 200, got the receipt, jotted down him name on the same receipt backside.
Now, I would try to register a complaint against him. I know, nothing would happen, neither, I would get back my Rs 200, nor my time, nor the mental strain which I got that time, would be healed, but then what should I do.
KEEP FINGERS CROSSED, THAT NEXT TIME I AM NOT THE LUCK ONE TO BE SELECTED BY TRAFFIC POLICE AMONG MANY NON- HELMET DRIVER TO BE ASKED FOR RS 1200.
I would at least give a try, so that I could be proud of myself, that I tried it, I did it for myself.
SO, YOU ALL SHOULD ALSO DO IT, NOT FOR ANY ONE ELSE, BUT FOR YOURSELF.
Note- This post is written in very less time, by a Non- regular writer at 1. 15 AM. So please forgive spelling and grammatical mistakes- FEELINGS SAMJHO NA YAAR.

Corporate Life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This word seems so interesting and attractive,     whoever thinks of it without entering there - Is very much optimistic, excited and full of expectations and those who are present there, always cribs about it.
It can be easily compared to the                 "SHAADI KA LODOO". If you have it, you will complain and regret, and if you don't, you will be very much willing to have it.{Can't resist kind of}.

When you join this Corporate world, you will be glad to see the White collar job and the people, later you would think, there's not much difference in the white and blue collar job, apart from colour and income received.
Both the places you have to sell yourself, irrespective of your education, family background etc.
Your boss may very well know how to get work done from you, and will praise you in front of others, showing that he/she is very proud of you, you have a great career ahead and similar stuff.        Only till the date you are a good performer, the day your sun sets, those accolades you turn into sarcastic remarks, that too more publicly....................

But there are always two sides of a coin, and this world is not different.
I first spoke about the darker part, but there always a sun rise after sunset. With lots of energy and luminescence.

When you enter this corporate world, you will get to do things you always wanted to.You can call your boss by their name, no sir/mam required, you can leave after the official timing(which generally doesn't generally happens - you have a lot of work to be done in your initial days, also your boss comes late and goes late, but wants you to be there still they are there, a lot of learning part you know).  You have full right to say anything which you feel wrong,(its considered or not is another thing).
You get visiting card with your name, official designation,       mail id (neeraj.manglani@naukri.com) printed to it.
Every month a decent sum of money is transferred into your account, which you can spend according to your wish(buy gifts for family and girl friends, get full recharge, have a good feast, movies in multiplex and so on). There are parties thrown on every target achieved, in luxury clubs and hotels.
Unlimited drink, snacks and lots of music. You can tranquilize yourself after which, you can vomit every thing which you don't like about the company, specially your reporting manger, who can make your life heaven or hell.

One thing very important is to gel well with your colleagues, few seniors whom you are not reporting but who can help you learn the work, adapt to the culture and push you in tough time.

Hope its not like a lecture to you, its just that i wished to share my past and few current learning's and experience about the corporate world.

DEFINING SUCESS

Seven Golden alphabets form a magical word - Success. Its an arduous job to define it, but cant help it, I have taken the onus of doing so.
Who wants to be successful - Everyone.
Who actually become successful - Very few.
The reason behind this is the inability to define success for themselves.
If I ask you, Yes you the reader of this post to define success for yourself, it would be a bit tough, time taking and of course a brainstorming session for you (don't worry the same is for me).
Success can be in terms of financial stability, rewards and recognition from the society or it can be too small as- Having a small family in a small town with a small car parked in a small house, working in a small company/business with small savings = Self respect and Mental Peace.
Lets leave all this philosophy and talk something of management.
Three easy steps of defining success - I.F.S
Now don't guess it as Indian Foreign Service/International Federal Society etc.
Just read below..

Individual - First and foremost important is the individuals own interest and capabilities. Now comes the difficulty of locating ones own interest, but capabilities are crystal clear. If you go with only capabilities, you will deliver to the environment but within yourself you will not be sure of it.
If you go with only interest, people with capabilities in the same area will easily surpass you.
So, what to do BOSS??????????????????????????
Look for area where you have both interest and capabilities? difficult to get.
That the dilemma, an if you have an answer to it, please feel free to comment or mail me.
Family - Individual success is not the only thing, you need to take your family along with you.I need not explain this very much as it has been well portrayed and displayed in hollywood movies, where the person moves ahead with success, leaving back their family and in-turn loosing their love, care affection respect and many more things.
Society - Even animals think of their community, whether it may be ants, deers or any other animal, we being the greatest animal on this planet should contribute something to the society in any was possible and hence disproving the below saying : -
A baby fish asked her mother: why can't we live on earth?
Mother Fish: Earth is not the place for fishes,Its made for
Selfishes.

VALUE ADDITION

This term "Value Addition" seems to be very interesting but there are many things that have no value addition in our life, but we still keep on doing those things.
Now, a big question is to decide what is value adding and what is useless/non-value adding.
As the famous adage says - "Knowledge never goes in vain".But in today's highly competitive world we cant spend time in doing things which are of no immediate benefit. We need to priorities.
Again, you never know what is going to come in use when.So its very difficult to get out of this dilemma.
At this point of time, when i am in 5th term of my PGPM and companies are coming for placements, most of my friends want to pursue only those things which could help them get a better job.People have made efforts to provide weightage to there Resume.
(Research papers/Management events and all that)
Now, at this point of time if we are sitting in the classes and learning what we have learned in previous terms doesn't seems beneficial (In some classes, not in all).
But again we cant decide what actually we want to learn and what we don't want to.
Anyways we all might be thinking differently at this time, what i felt was stated above that i am not sure what to do and what not to do.
In case somebody has something value adding to be shared please let me know..........................................................

"MY NAME IS NOT KHAN"

Yes, my name is not Khan.Still when I was watching this movie today evening, tears started rolling down my eyes(there was a traffic jam, lots of tears on my small cheek). No no, don't worry, Its a common thing. It usually happens with me(very emotional), two days back I started crying while watching the movie DASVIDANIA(THE BEST GOOD BYE EVER).
You all might believe movies are not reality, but we can learn a lot from movies and these movies give us a lot of confidence.Yes I agree things are exaggerated but we can do our part at least.

When a muslim never forgets to offer Namaz, why we are not that committed to our timings to offer prayers, visit holy places.

In one scene Shah rukh says- "Namaz jagah aur logon se nahi, neeyat se padhi jaati hai".
In another scene he says - "khuda ki raah mohabbat ki raah hai, dehshat aur jang ki nahi".

In the movie Kurbaan, the person who helps the terrorist to get on the plane with a bomb was an American Christian.Vivek Oberoi, a muslim helps FBI to save poeple.

In the movie New York, Neel Nitin Mukesh again a muslim helps FBI to stop John Abraham from Exploding the building.

These are all movies, but we have real life example of honorable Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. I need not explain his contribution towards India.

In the mean while my friend Akhil, who was watching the movie with me,slept away to glory and when I said, should I reduce the volume or put off the lights, he says no matter how loud it may be, I can sleep comfortably.

In yet another scene, Shah rukh went to save the African people in America in the flooded areas, whom the government has forgotten. The newly elected president being Barack Obama.

Another learning is about promise.Shah rukh's mother in the movie says -
Khan never break their promise.
Amitabh Bacchan in the movie khuda Gawah says - Pathan ka baccha, apni jaan de dega lekin apni zubaan se nahi mukrega.

So, Shah rukh fough regularly to meet the American president to say -
"My Name is Khan and I am not a terrorist".

I am not supporting or promoting Islam, neither I am with the Christians or Israilians.
But, without offending any one I disagree to the statement -
"ALL MUSLIMS ARE NOT TERRORISTS BUT ALL TERRORISTS ARE MUSLIMS".
We can't judge people by their caste, religion or region.(within India we fight - North Indian, South Indian etc.)

I am unable to express lots of things, which I felt while watching it, not only related to Islam, but to humanity and our day to day life, how we can achieve what we decide.

We need to be true to ourselves, no one else.
I am open to any kind of suggestions, discussions etc. Please write your opinions in comments or you can directly mail me - neerajm.isme10@gmail.com

CRISIS MANAGEMENT

In the era of ultrasonic speed where all of us are short of time, the best thing we rely on is Crisis Management(CM)*. So,I need not define it.What i would like to do here is share my experience in recent times and request you all to share your own experience and give comments on mine.

So, be ready to hear my experience(You all might be thinking why to read the experience of this guy, but let me warn you all, few years down the line big Magazines,Newspapers and TV channels will share with you my experience, If they are able to get an appointment to interview me).

I received a call from IPE Hyderabad regarding my teams selection in a case study of Promotion of DOVE in rural India (TARANG, Marketing event) and we had to present our approach with a 25 - 40 pages report,Power Point Presentation and compete for other 3 rounds making it a 4 rounds event.
1st round - Presentation, which was scheduled for 30 min but the judge from Microsft changed it to 15 min and we,the team which were informed the last were asked to present the first.
Again CM* on the spot,we increased the speed of delivery,my colleague Vikas and I presented in given time.(This presentation we have prepared at the venue, in just 1 hr 15 min sitting in our luxurious room while on the other hand the event was being inaugurated).

Other rounds were scheduled next day for which we had to prepare an Ad and Poster of the same.

2nd round - Negotiatte - As i haven't attended Prof. Nitin Garg's class of BATNA (which is very famous amongst all Ismeians), i was a bit less confident.Being a Sindhi,I have it in my blood or genes or DNA/CNA/BNA/ANA, whatever you call it,we are the best in this trade.
We were the only team to fianlize the deal and all other 3 teams couldn't.(Sindhi Effect).

3rd round - Quiz - It took place in the auditorium and here mismanagement came into play- someone else has designed the quiz and other one was conducting it, with a wrong answer key.The height of mismanagement was that their scorer moved out and there was nobody to take care of it.

4th round - Ad and Poster - 2 other team which were informed well in advance and were equipped with resources arrived in the campus at 9.00 am with all things completed. We guys (Me, Vikas - Team 1 n Nirmit, Puneet - Team 2 woke up at 9.30 am,went to have breakfast and then started working on the Ads).
Finally the Ads both the teams prepared, was the original once and we scored the highest in this round.Others two teams just copied videos from net, mixed and displayed.

The final Result -
A team from ICFAI Hyderabad won 1st prize and our friend Nirmit n Puneet got 2nd prize. We stood 3 rd,very close to 2nd rankers score.
To view the photos of IPE visit the link - photo dikhao.

The thing was that we prepared everything at the end.It was not that we were not serious but we kept on brain stroming and spent alot time on that rather than the execution part, which could have made our efforts more brighter.

Another experience was with two of my friends Prasan and Satya. Here we were well informed about the deadline of the event Directors Cut - a Video Ad competition in SIOM Nasik(Symbiosis). We had to prepare a video, advertising any unbranded product and mail it by 11.00 pm on 22 Jan 10.Due to the pressure to of presentations and assignments we were not getting time to work on it.But we got the concept 2 days in advance. Then we were looking for good quality camera and software to prepare the video.Leaving the high priority things,we were madly looking for software's, even we found few on the net but none of them helped.Prasan bought a camera 8 mega pixel, 10 x zoom but battery discharged and charger not working. It was 6 pm and were left with only 5 hours when we purchased the charger.

Then we again moved out in the market for looking for the most important object - our product i.e a Zip.I tried to bargain with a tailor and the kind of attitude and behavior he showed,I would surely think twice while bargaining for the next time, you guys be better careful while bargaining to these small people, not all but few of them can insult you very badly.

Then we started working on videos, downloading from the Baap or Dada of videos YOU TUBE.
Then as the rule we all need to feature in the video,we three characters unshaved, not even properly combed our hairs and stood in front of the camera to become celebrities to endorse our own brand - ZAPPERS ZIP.
But the problem which persisted was to cut the software. But why to worry when Bhayankar Oh! sorry Shubhanker is on the 4 th floor. No matter how arrogant, rude he may be for others, for his friends who do not come to him only for help,he is a very good guy(Hindi wala guy bhi chalega bus ye guy gali bahut deti hai).
He was suffering from fever, yet at my one call he came all the way from 4th floor to 1st floor (Without lift which we don't have in our Hostel). He did all the technical part and some additional from his side to make the video better.
Finally the video was prepared and mailed as an enrty for the competition at 11.42 pm (Hum hindustani,, Hum hindustani,, parampara kaise tod dein. Jab teacher assignment mail karne ka time deten hain 8.00 pm, uske baad to mail shuru hote hain aur chalte hain 4.oo am tak.. to ye to external event hai,).

Learning - We find great pleasure in calling ourselves "CRISIS MANAGERS" but if we start well in advance,we could deliver better result for sure.

Finally I would like to conclude my experience here not because you all must be bored, i am sure u are finding it very interesting but its 2.40 am and my roomy Deepak is taking Long long Snores and as tomorrow is Saturday -my favorite breakfast is served - SAMOSA. So, i really don't want to miss them, i got to go Bye Bye........................Fir milenge Likhte Likhte.
